Bantwal, July 22: Four employees of Bhagavati Co-Operative Bank, Bantwal reportedly harassed the aged mother of a borrower of loan from the bank, as a result of which the former attempted to commit suicide being unable to bear the disgrace, here on Saturday July 22.
According to the sources, Jagadish had borrowed a loan of Rs 25,000 for get his sister married. He was regular in paying the monthly instalments and maintained the receipts. However, the bank staff had gone to his house in his absence, where they are said to have harassed the mother.
This act of the bank and its staff has been totally objected to by the local people. They demanded a notice should have been served if the monthly instalments were not paid in time. Moreover, legal action could have been taken if he had failed to honour the reminders. However, the bank took the help of a debt collector to recover the loan. Hence they demand action against the bank, employees and the recovery personnel.
