Kasargod, Oct 6: One of the prime accused in the theft at Chervatthur branch of Vijaya Bank, and another person, said to be connected with the Eriyal Kudlu Seva Cooperative Bank robbery case, allegedly attempted suicide in separate police stations here on the night of Monday October 5.
Shishupal (40) of Kottarakara, who was said to have possessed information about the Eriyal bank robbery case, was apprehended on Monday evening near the Mangaluru railway station. The same night he was taken to the Kasargod town police station and interrogated.
After the interrogation, Shishupal went to the toilet, but did not come out even after a long time, nor did he respond when the cops called him. The cops then broke open the door and found that Shishupal had tried to hang himself using a lungi.
He was immediate rushed to a hopsital in Mangaluru. His condition is said to be serious.
Meanwhile, in more worry for the police, Rajesh Murali, the second accused in the Vijaya Bank theft case, also tried to end his life in the police station. Rajesh was arrested on Monday and handed over to Hosadurg police for interrogation.
