Heavy rainfall likely in Odisha in next two days

Bhubaneswar, Oct 7 (IANS): Odisha is likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall in the next two days as a low pressure area has been created over North Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood area, the weather department said on Wednesday, warning fishermen not to venture out.

A low pressure was formed over the north Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood under the influence of upper air cyclonic circulation over east-central Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood, said an Indian Metrological Department (IMD) release here.

Under its influence, rain and thundershowers would occur at many places over Odisha with heavy rainfall at one or two places over coastal Odisha during next 48 hours, it said.

Also forecasting strong and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40 to 45 kmph gusting to 50 kmph from northeasterly direction which would prevail along and off the Odisha coast, the IMD said that sea conditions will be rough and warned the fishermen not to venture into the sea.
