British FTSE 100 increases


London, Oct 8 (IANS): FTSE 100 Index, Britain's benchmark stock market gauge, increased by 0.16 percent, or 10.19 points, to 6,336.35 points.

The share price of Anglo American shot up 9.98 percent, topping the gainers of the blue chips on Wednesday.

Rio Tinto, Antofagasta, Glencore and BHP Billiton spiked, respectively, by 7.48 percent, 7.36 percent, 5.22 percent and 4.58 percent, Xinhua reported.

International Consolidated Airlines Group SA led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 5.63 percent, followed by easyJet (5.00 percent), Carnival (4.59 percent), Hikma Pharmaceutical (4.56 percent) and Sports Direct International PLC (4.32 percent).
