New Delhi, Oct 8 (IANS): In a bid to upgrade, modernize and enhance safety and comfort of railway coaches, the Indian Railways is organising a two-day international technical conference here from Friday, an official statement said.
The themes for the "Rail Coach Interiors: Innovation, Safety, Comfort" conference include ergonomic rail coach layouts and amenities, passenger safety, security and accessibility systems, air-conditioning and train lighting systems, hygiene-friendly coach toilets and amenities, innovative materials for interior furnishing and coatings, and financing models for interior upgradation of coaches.
Representatives from China, Japan, Italy, Spain, Austria, England, Germany, France and Australia are likely to attend the conference being organised by Institute of Rolling Stock Engineers (IRSE) and Indian Railways Service of Mechanical Engineers Association (IRSMEA).
