Centre not allocating grants: Himachal CM

Chamba, Oct 8 (IANS): Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Thursday slammed the central government for not allocating development funds.

Accusing the union government of "step-motherly treatment", he said the state was not able to carry out development work as enough funds were not being provided by the Centre," the chief minister said

At a public function in Kihar in Salooni sub-division of Chamba district, he said the state government was committed to provide all basic facilities in the rural areas.

Praising the previous Congress governments at the Centre, Virbhadra Singh said that due to efforts of all the Congress prime ministers, his state was given its due share to carry out development activities.

The successive Congress governments in the state had also implemented welfare policies to take the state on the path of progress, he added.

To woo investment, the state government has decided not to enhance power rates for the industries till 2018, he said.

He also said Himachal Pradesh was providing power on freezed tariff to the industries and also to other states, and as a result big corporate houses were willing to invest in the state.
