Panaji, Jul 24: The state legislative assembly on Tuesday congratulated internationally acclaimed pop singer Remo Fernandes for being bestowed Padmashree.
``Remo is a versatile artist who have made Goa proud. He is a real Goan son of soil,'' Dipak Dhavlikar, a MGP legislator, who moved the motion said on the floor of the house.
Congress legislator Dayanand Narvekar seconded the motion. ``Remo is always straight forward in putting across the issues.. He talks hard and conveys social message through his songs,'' Narvekar said.
Narvekar recalled how Remo had devoted a special song for former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi during his Goa visit. ``Every Goan is proud of such a talented singer,'' he said.
