Himachal governor wields broom under cleanliness campaign


Shimla, Oct 9 (IANS): Himachal Pradesh Governor Acharya Devvrat on Friday participated in a cleanliness campaign under the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan by cleaning the campus of the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMCH) here.

The governor took a broom and cleaned several parts of the hospital along with Raj Bhavan staffers.

He said he would participate in the campaign across the state to bring awareness among the people about cleanliness and to motivate them to keep their surroundings clean.

He said it was essential to preserve the beauty of the hill state which was possible only with the involvement of all sections of society.

Lakhs of tourists visit the state every year and in order to promote tourism, towns, cities and all tourist spots should be kept clean, he added.

Himachal Pradesh High Court Chief Justice Mansoor Ahamad Mir will launch the 'Clean Shimla Drive' here on Saturday.
