Udupi: Nonagenarian Community Leader Gershon Salins No More

Udupi, Jul 25: Gershon Salins (97), a resident of Kukkikatte, Udupi well known as a community leader and for his social work, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, July 24 following brief illness.
He is survived by his sons Gilbert Salins and W D Salins who own Bel-Vo-Seal Valves Pvt Ltd at Santekatte, Kallianpur.
During his active days, Salins had served as member of Bailur panchayat for about 20 years, senior member of UBM Jubilee Church, Udupi for 48 years, vice president of Basel Mission development organization and also served as the director of Kukkikatte Korangarapady Co-operative Society.
He was founder-president of Christ Karunya Church of Indiranagar. He was also well known as manufacturer of handloom saris. He had also been widely known for his selfless social service.
Union minister Oscar Fernandes, former MP Vinaykumar Sorake, former MLA U R Sabhapati, municipal council former chairman Renald Praveen Kumar and others have condoled Salins' death.
