CBI seeks Indrani's custodial hospitalisation detail

New Delhi, Oct 9 (IANS): The CBI on Friday asked the Maharashtra government to preserve the hospitalisation details of Indrani Mukherjea, who is in jail on charges of killing her daughter Sheena Bora.

The premier investigation agency has now shown interest to examine the fluid and blood samples of Indrani during her hospitalisation.

Indrani, currently lodged in Mumbai's Byculla jail, was admitted to state-run J.J. Hospital on October 2 after complaining "uneasiness". She was discharged four days later.

"We asked Maharashtra government to preserve samples of stomach wash, urine and blood of Indrani Mukerjea relating to her recent hospitalisation," a CBI official said.

The agency has also asked the state government to provide it the inquiry report of Byculla prison and any other report prepared by other authorities.

They also demanded the action report taken with regard to the incident.

The agency is already in the process to question the three prime accused -- Indrani, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamvar Pinturam Raia -- of the case.

Taking over the investigation of the case from Mumbai's Khar police, the CBI on September 29 registered a new case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including criminal conspiracy, murder, abduction, destruction of evidence, causing hurt by giving poison and Arms Act against Indrani, Khanna and Rai.

Khar police had arrested the accused trio in September from Mumbai and Kolkata. They are presently in judicial custody till October 19.

There are some conflicts in Indrani's hospitalisation, and the report suspect that she might have taken drug overdose in prison or overdosed on anti depressant pills.

They said the agency during the course of its probe will examine the role of all the actors including the brother of Sheena, her friend Rahul and husband Peter Mukerjea.

Sheena, a 25-year-old executive with a private company, was murdered on April 24, 2012 and her body was disposed of in a forest area in Gagode village in Maharashtra's Raigad district.
