17 killed in China restaurant blast

Beijing, Oct 10 (IANS): At least 17 people died when an explosion ripped through a restaurant in China's Anhui province on Saturday, local authorities said.

The blast occurred at 11.57 a.m. (local time) and caused a fire at a private restaurant in Jinghu district of Wuhu city, Xinhua quoted the city government as saying.

An initial investigation showed that the blast was caused by a gas cylinder.
