Logrono (Spain), Oct 10 (IANS): Spain's qualification for the 2016 European Championships following their 4-0 win at home to Luxembourg came at a heavy price as both striker Alvaro Morata and midfielder David Silva suffered injuries.

Morata, who plays for Italian Champions, Juventus suffered a trauma falling badly after half an hour of the game on Friday night, reports Xinhua.

Original reports suggested he could have broken his leg and he was rushed for X-rays to a hospital here on Saturday, which ruled out a fracture, although he will play no part in Spain's game in the Ukraine next week and will be doubtful when Juventus return to league action next weekend.

Meanwhile English club Manchester City's midfielder Silva will be sidelined for around two to three weeks after twisting his right ankle following a heavy challenge in the seventh minute of the game.

He tried to continue after the injury, but was forced out of the game a couple of minutes later and his injury comes just 24 hours after it was confirmed that Argentina forward Sergio Aguero will be out for a month after tearing his hamstring while playing in his country's 2-0 defeat against Ecuador on Friday.

Silva will now miss Manchester City's next two league games, including the Manchester derby against Manchester United, and their vital Champions League visit to play Spanish side Sevilla.

Elsewhere, the hamstring injury Karim Benzema suffered while playing for France on Friday could keep Spanish giants Real Madrid's top scorer sidelined for three weeks. He will also be doubtful for Real Madrid's league game against Celta Vigo and their Champions League trip to play French champions Paris Saint Germain.
