New Delhi, Oct 14 (IANS): The union cabinet on Wednesday approved a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between India and Mozambique in August this year to improve bilateral cooperation in the field of new and renewable energy.
The MoU was signed between the ministry of new and renewable energy and the ministry of mineral resources and energy of Mozambique government here on August 5 during the visit of Mozambique President Filipe Nyusi to India.
"The Memorandum of Understanding will help in strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries," an official statement said.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the union cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it added.
The MoU was inked to promote technical bilateral cooperation, investment promotion and partnership in the new and renewable energy sector.
The areas of cooperation would focus on development of new and renewable energy technologies, specialised training courses, research and development and technology transfer in renewable energy, among other things.
