Delhi govt to soon install CCTV cameras, tweets Kejriwal

New Delhi, Oct 14 (PTI): Delhi government has asked the PWD to light up 'dark spots' across the capital and decided to bring a proposal to install CCTV cameras soon, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said today.

In a meeting of its Cabinet, the AAP government also took a decision to revise minimum wages in the capital and to "blacklist" contractors who don't follow the norm in this respect.

"Delhi Cabinet decides to revise minimum wages in Delhi. HODs must ensure workers get minimum wages. Contractors who don't pay minimum wages will be blacklisted," tweeted Kejriwal.

In another tweet, he wrote, "Cabinet took two important decisions for women safety - PWD shud lit up all dark spots in Delhi and bring a proposal soon to put CCTV cameras all over Delhi."

In its manifesto, the AAP had promised to install CCTV cameras in DTC buses, bus stands, crowded places to intimidate attackers and deter crime against women.

It had also hiked the minimum wages of workers in the unorganised sector in April this year.

Minimum wage of unskilled workers were raised from Rs 8,632 to Rs 9,048. Similarly wages of semi-skilled, skilled and graduate workers were increased from Rs 9,542, Rs 10,478 and Rs 11,414 to Rs 10,010, Rs 10,998 and Rs 11,986, respectively.
