Pakistan finalises security for Sikh pilgrims


Islamabad, Oct 14 (IANS): The Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) has said that the security measures for pilgrims visiting Pakistan for the 546th birth anniversary of Sikhism's founder Guru Nanak have been finalised.

Board chairman Siddiq-ul-Farooq said the plan on security, transportation and board and lodging for the visiting pilgrims was finalised at a meeting in Lahore on Tuesday, The News newspaper reported on Wednesday.

Farooq said providing foolproof security to visiting devotees was a priority of the board.

"Sikh devotees will reach Pakistan on November 20 and spend a week here. It is our duty to facilitate the guests coming from India and elsewhere," he was quoted as saying.

Guru Nanak's birth anniversary will be celebrated on November 25.
