Bengaluru, Oct 18: The opposition BJP on Saturday demanded the resignation of Home Minister K J George for his “total failure” to maintain law and order in the State and death of SJagadish, sub-inspector attached to the Doddaballapura Town Police station, outskirts of Bengaluru.
In a shocking incident, the SI was stabbed to death by two thieves on Thursday.
BJP Leader of the Opposition JagadishShettar told presspersons that if George declined to step down then Chief Minister Siddaramaia should either drop him from the Cabinet or allot him a less important portfolio.
“All criminals and thieves are operating their anti-social activities on broad day light owing to laxity on the part of Home Minister,” Shettar said.
Repeated cases of sexual assault, robberies, chain snatching and killing of the SI clearly indicated the failure and weakness of the Home Minister.
Shettar demanded payment of full compensation to the family of the SI.
The State Government had not paid promised compensation to family of SI Mallikarjun Bande, who was killed during an encounter with criminals in Kalaburagi in January 2014, the BJP leader said.
