Police arrest two for attempting sale of black buck skins

Mangaluru, Oct 18: A forest police mobile squad arrested two suspects who were illegally trying to sell skins of four black bucks in front of Swagath Hotel building near State Bank in the heart of the city on Friday October 16. The arrested are Manappa alias Mallappa (40) and Nagappa Hanumantappa Talavara (31). Both are residents of Adralli grama, Shirahatti taluk, Gadag district.

PSI Santhosh Shetty of the forest mobile squad, on receipt of definite information, arrested the suspects and recovered the skins of the animals. The suspects were handed over to Mangaluru south police station. A police case has been registered against them under Wildlife Protection Act and further investigation is in progress.

The operation was conducted on the direction of Bengaluru forest unit’s IGP Hemanth Nimbalkar and SP Venkat Naik. PSI Santhosh Shetty and staff Jayarama Rai, Honnappa Gowda, Ramachandra Maniyani, Narayan, Sunder Raj, Basheer, and jeep driver Sunder Shetty participated in the operation.
