Beef row: Modi upset, Shah summons leaders over controversial remarks

New Delhi, Oct 18 (PTI) : With BJP under fire over controversial remarks of its leaders on Dadri and beef row, party chief Amit Shah has cracked the whip and warned them against making such remarks after Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed "extreme displeasure" on the comments.

Shah has pulled up Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Union Minister Mahesh Sharma, MP Sakshi Maharaj and MAL Sangeet Som, warning them against making such comments that threaten to derail the development agenda of the Modi government, a party source said.

"The party president has warned them against making such statements. Such controversies in a way derail the development agenda of the party as well as the Modi government," the source privy to the development said.

Shah told them that the lynching of a man in Dadri over rumours that he had eaten and stored beef was essentially a failure of the state government in maintaining law and order and BJP had nothing to do with it.

Their controversial remarks deflected the attention from the Samajwadi Party dispensation and turned the spotlight on BJP, the sources said.

The top party brass swung into action after Modi, who has been criticised for not doing enough to rein in party hotheads, conveyed his anger over the controversy sparked by the comments of these leaders.

"Modiji is extremely upset over these controversies," the source said.

Khattar was recently reported to have said that Muslims can live in India but they will have to give up eating beef. He was forced to retract following a backlash over his comment.

Both Sharma and Som had visited the Dadri village where the Muslim man was lynched. While Sharma had termed the murder as an "accident", Som had alleged that police was framing innocents and warned of retaliation like Muzaffarnagar, a place ravaged by riots in 2013.

The Union Culture Minister and Hindutva leader Sakshi Maharaj have been at the centre of a series of controversies over their right-wing comments.

Over all very well played drama by the BJP. superb actors.HE HAS NO OTHER WAY THAN TO WEAR A MASK BECAUSE HE HAS TO SHOW HIS FACE TO THE INTERNATIONAL LEADERS.if he was some MP than his real colour would have manifested openly, while now in hiding.

What difference does it make whether Modi is happy or unhappy or whether Modi is upset of not upset? What can he do? He is just a toothless tiger. His teeth have been removed by those who call the shots. Such things will keep happening and they will be forgotten after some time. I feel this is just an eye wash. If Modi was really upset, he would not have used the word 'unfortunate' to express his displeasure. A man has been killed for no fault of his and it is very unfortunate that Modi calls this just 'unfortunate.' So this posture flies in the face of his mild reaction.

Mr. Modi, don't worry, you don't speak about any national critical issues, but keeps quite and travel abroad for bringing FDI.

Your comrades who came into power have an hidden agenda to transform India as a theocratic nation, and you wanted to be the CEO of the new Indian empire.

Beef ban in some States with long prison term, in other States, they have the freedom to consume, and other States have massive export. Amith Shaw went to Assam a few months back to inspire the BJP comrades to introduce beef-ban there however keeping totally quite about the beef export from Gujarat. What a paradox?

Your comrade, the Haryana Joker CM is now acting like the Almighty GOD. Either the Muslims will have to stop eating beef, else leave the country. That warning is not only for the Muslims, but to the Christians and the rest.

Mr. Modi went to UAE in a hurry for two days to bring 1 trillion dollars as Foreign Direct Investment. Now, based on the ultimate warning of the Haryana Almighty CM, the GCC countries will have to make urgent preparations to make rooms for the 173 millions Muslims their forefathers came to India around AD 650.

BJP has so much in common with Pakistan that it is uncanny.

They manufacture a crisis, preferably some violence and loss of life. They let it burn for a while, then they put out a public image of rationalism and sanity, while continuing to fuel the violence. When caught, they deny deny deny until the story is off the media cycle.

Pakistan has been doing this for decades. BJP has learnt lessons very well from them.

    1. BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj warns nobody should eat meat, let alone beef.
See, he is not worried about so many are starving and dyeing without food. Toor Dal price crossed Rs.200/- per Kg. He doesn't demand death sentence to hoarders!
    2. Sakshi Maharaj further says there should be provision of death sentence for those involved in forcible conversion.
Is this law not exactly like in Pakistan? Wild Imagination, what he would have done, if he was super power? For him forcible re-conversion is right!

This will be in headlines till the time BJP Leaders meet Amit Shah.
Modi is upset, Modi is angry, Modi is furious etc. etc. Post meeting, media reporters will ask BJP leaders - how was the meet? They will say we went to meet Shah to discuss development in our constituency. Reporters when ask Shah, he will say they been told to be serious in their talks henceforth. Since nobody knows what happens within the meeting, each party can say what they want and go happily.

This kind of game is played by BJP over and over again.
