Bengaluru, Oct 20: The suspected killers of the police sub inspector S Jagadish were arrested at the Nagpur railway station on the evening of Monday, October 19.
Harish Babu and Madhu are the persons arrested. They had boarded a train bound for New Delhi when they were apprehended.
The accused had escaped to Hyderabad after the crime. Police who were tracking their movements learned that they had boarded a train in Hyderabad with an intention to go to New Delhi.
After the police in Bengaluru received specific information on the duo, they sent a message to their counterparts in Nagpur and also to the Nagpur railway police. The joint efforts of Karnataka police and Maharashtra police resulted in the arrest of the accused. With the help of photos, the Nagpur police searched all the bogies of the train to find the duo.
The notorious vehicle-lifters had stabbed sub inspector Jagadish attached to Doddaballapur police station to death on October 16 in Nelamangala. Jagadish had gone on duty at that time to a two-wheeler showroom along with four constables on specific information about the accused.
After killing the sub inspector, both the accused left the place with the deceased sub inspector's service revolver. A constable also sustained stab injuries during the incident.
DGP and IGP Om Prakash said in Bengaluru that Rs 50 lac will be handed over to Jagadish’s family this week.
