Mumbai, Jul 31: The seventy fifth annual general body meeting of Billava Association Mumbai was held at the chairmanship of Association president Jaya C Suvarna, here on Sunday Jul 29.
While presiding over the meeting he said that the proposal of setting up Engineering College at his own plot in his native Padubelle or the plot donated by Maharashtra government at Mumbai suburban Dombivli, will be taken up shortly.
Moreover the needy students would be financially supported to take up higher studies. Association has embarked on a plan to organize mass marriage for the economically backward boys and girls. The association will bear all the expenses of both brides and bridegrooms/couples. The Association has also been striving to lead Billava community to prosperity by taking up numerous plans to uplift the community. He has appealed to community brethren to join collectively in order to strengthen the Association to achieve prosperity of the entire community.
Joint secretary C T Salian presented the annual report. Honorary treasurer Bhaskar V Bangera presented the accounts. Association president honoured all those who have worked for the betterment of community by draping shawl and presenting memento, flower and fruits.
Association vice-president V R Kotian, Y Nagesh, M B Kukyan, L V Amin, honorary chief treasurer and joint secretary C T Salian, Shankar D Poojary, women division executive president Jayanthi V Ullal and other office- bearers of women division, Dharmesh S Salian, Ganesh M Billava, Mahesh Karkala, Premanath P Kotian, Seva Dal captain Ganesh K Poojary, local monitoring committee, sub-committee executive presidents and others were present on the dais.
Honorary chief secretary Nithyanand Kotian welcomed and delivered the key note address. Joint secretary Shankar D Poojary proposed vote of thanks.
