'Underworld 5' begins filming, full cast revealed

Prague, Oct 20 (IANS): Sony has announced that "Underworld 5", tentatively called "Underworld: Next Generation", has started its production here.

Filming will continue in other areas of the city over ten weeks. Kate Beckinsale and Theo James, who first joined the franchise in 2012's "Underworld: Awakening", return as Selene and her ally David respectively, reports aceshowbiz.com.

Another actor returning from "Underworld: Awakening" is "Game of Thrones" star Charles Dance.

He reprises his role as David's dad, vampire elder Thomas. Dance is not the only "Game of Thrones" actor in the cast of the upcoming movie. Tobias Menzies is also on board to portray a new Lycan leader, while James Faulkner will play an unspecified role.

Lara Pulver ("Sherlock") will play a new vampire character described as "a fiercely ambitious vampire."

Also in the lineup are Bradley James ("Merlin"), Peter Andersson ("The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo") and newcomer actress Clementine Nicholson.

Anna Foerster is directing with a screenplay penned by "The Last Witch Hunter" scribe Cory Goodman.

Plot details are still kept under wraps, but the film will reportedly focus on a new and younger generation of vampires and werewolves who are locked in a seemingly never-ending battle between supernatural races.

The film is scheduled to release in North America on October 21 next year.
