Mangalore, Jul 31: No clues have been stumbled upon so far in connection with the murder of Subba Rao, police sources said.
Subba Rao was gunned down by an unidentified assailant near Ganesh Mahal Hotel at K S Rao on Monday July 30 night. Since he was involved in many business activities, police found it difficult to trace the motive for the slaying of Subba Rao.
He was recognized as media person while he ran a daily newspaper called ‘Karavali Maruta’ few years ago. He was also running a video parlour called ‘Mayur Video.’ Recently he entered into real estate business in the name of ‘Mayur Real Estates and Promoters.’ He was also recognized in the chit fund business. Sources say that he might have had rivalry with others in the same business.
However it is not clear why he was murdered and whether the shooter is local or hired from outside the district. Police teams are trying to gather as many clues as related to Subba Rao’s murder. DK additional SP B S Lokesh Kumar expressed the hope that the clues would be available very early.

Mangalore, Jul 30: The killing of noted builder Subba Rao (55) in a shoot-out near Ganesh Mahal on K S Rao Road on Monday July 30 night has sent some dangerous signals to the administration. It is after 14 years that a person is killed in shoot-out in the city. Fourteen years ago, that is, in 1993, it was Amar Alva who was shot dead at Hampankatta.
Subba Rao who was running Mayur Builders and Promoters in the city was killed after 3 unidentified men pumped in 4 bullets into his body. Out of this 2 bullets pierced his chest while two other entered his abdomen. His associate and editor of Karavali Maruta weekly Sudesh, (an eveninger formerly run by Subba Rao) who was with him too was shot on his hand. The incident took place at around 9.30 pm when Subba Rao and Sudesh were getting into the car to go home.
Subba Rao, who basically hailed from Kanapady near Brahmarakootlu in Bantwal taluk, had settled in the city since many years. He was also promoting an eveninger called ‘Karavali Maruta.’ (This has now been converted into weekly). He was also involved in a video theatre business and was running ‘Mayura Video parlour in the city. About two years ago, he had entered into real estate business.
Mithun, an employee with Subba Rao said that there were 3 men who were involved in the shoot-out. A young man aged about 20 years wearing black shirt and trousers shot Subba Rao with his pistol. Thereafter he ran towards Navbharath Circle where he was taken in a mobike by two others who were waiting. All the efforts by locals to trace and nab the culprits went in vain, as they disappeared in the dark.
Subba Rao who sustained serious injuries was taken to Yenepoya Hospital where he succumbed to injuries later.
SP Satheesh Kumar while speaking to the press said that police have formed 4 teams to nab the culprits. Security has been beefed up and police are checking all the vehicles coming in and going out from the city.
Efforts are also made to zero in on the reason behind the attack on Subba Rao. Since he was involved in many business activities, investigation will be carried out on different angles, SP informed.
Mangalore: Bloodshed - Realtor Subba Rao Shot Dead

Mangalore, Jul 30: Noted businessman and realtor Subba Rao, owner of Mayur Builders and Promoters was shot dead by two unidentified gunmen here a few minutes ago on Monday July 30.
Subba Rao was coming out from his office situated in Ganesh Mahal here when two gunmen who came on a mobike shot him from point blank range. One Sudesh who was with Subba Rao too sustained injury and is shifted to hospital.
Subba Rao was shot thrice in his chest. As a result he sustained serious injuries. He was declared brought dead at Yenepoya Hospital here.
