House of CPM leader, B M Bhat, burgled of Rs 7.5 lac cash

Beltangady, Oct 21: Thieves entered CPM leader, B M Bhat's rented home at Ujire in the taluk on Monday October 19 and took away about Rs 7.5 lac in cash, duly gaining advantage of the absence of family members. At the time, it is gathered, Bhat was on a visit to his native place, Patrame in the taluk, along with wife and children.

On his return on Tuesday, Bhat found that the lock of his house had been broken and cash kept in the cupboard had gone missing. It is said that this amount belonged to different organizations, accounts of which were being handled by Bhat. Cash had been kept ready for being deposited into bank accounts, it is gathered.

It is suspected that someone who knew very well about the presence of cash inside Bhat's home was behind this theft.

Local police circle inspector, B R Lingappa, station house officer, Sandesh, and other police personnel visited the spot and initiated investigation. A case was registered in the local police station.
