Congress takes dig at Bhagwat's proposed speech on Doordarshan

New Delhi, Oct 22 (IANS): The Congress on Wednesday dubbed RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's address proposed to be broadcast on Doordarshan on Vijaya Dashami/Dussehra as "His Master's Voice" and "absolutely unconstitutional".

"Even though Narendra Modi is the prime minister, the actual remote control is in the hands of his master sitting in Nagpur. I am not surprised by the fact that Mohan Bhagwat's views will be broadcast on Doordarshan. After all, he is the actual master. Hence, his (Modi's) master's voice will be broadcast on Doordarshan on Vijaya Dashami," Congress spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi told media persons here.

"Did anyone earlier ever hear of a head of a cultural organisation, associated with the ruling party of the day, addressing the people on Doordarshan. This is setting a very wrong precedent and it is absolutely unconstitutional," he added.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Bhagwat will address the people on Vijaya Dashami from Nagpur on Thursday morning, which will be aired on all Doordarshan channels.
