AAP leaders meet Rajnath, discuss Punjab violence

New Delhi, Oct 22 (IANS): AAP leaders on Thursday met Home Minister Rajnath Singh and called for a National Integration Council meeting over the violence in Punjab after the desecration of the Sikh holy book.

The Aam Aadmi Party leaders said the recent spate of incidents of communal violence across the country need to be addressed.

"We have called for a meeting by National Integration Council so that the situation in the country is looked into," AAP leader Sanjay Singh told reporters.

He accused the Punjab government of delaying a probe into the desecration of the Sikh holy book, and said no steps were taken for four months to stop the violence.

"The Punjab government remained silent for four months and kept on delaying the investigation of such a serious matter. This could have been done much before to stop the violence," he said.

Senior AAP leader Ashutosh was also present in the meeting with Rajnath Singh.
