Jeddah, Oct 23: A major fire broke out at a warehouse in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on the night of Wednesday October 21.
The warehouse belongs to businessman Qamar Sada who hails from Bhatkal. The warehouse was completely burnt down and the loss is estimated at SR 13 lac equivalent to Rs 2.25 cr.
According to sources the fire broke out on the night of Wednesday October 21, but was only brought to light on the afternoon of Thursday October 22 around 12 pm.
A total of five warehouses got burnt including the warehouse of Qamar Sada as it was centrally located in the building.
The fire first broke out on the first floor and slowly spread burning all five warehouses. The first floor roof was made of plywood.
Owner of the warehouse said that recently the stock was valued at SR 13 lac. Subsequently stock in the form of electronic items, sanitaryware, stationery, sports items, baby toys and more arrived.
The exact reason of the fire is not yet known. It is surmised that a short circuit could be the reason for it.
Qamar sada is an active member of the Bhatkal community in Jeddah. On receiving information BCJ president Rehan Kobatte general secretary Ubaidullah Askeri, members Faisal Damudi, Arshad Ekkeri , Abdul Salam Damda Abu and others rushed to the spot.
