Puttur, Aug 1: The mortal remains of IA soldier, V J Sunish (23) who died in a road accident in Rajasthan, were brought to Kuntur on Wednesday August 1 morning. Later the procession of the mortal remains was carried through the main road to Syrian Church at Padavu.
The procession was delayed for 3 hours after the army jeep stuck in the muddy road leading to his house. A total of 29 army members led by Capt Ramnath were present at the occasion.
Later a condolence meet was held on the Church grounds.
Puttur ASP Dr Harsha, Puttur MLA Shakuntala Shetty, Uppinangady circle inspector Ravish and Kadaba SI Nandakumar paid their last tribute.
Gun salute was given by the Army at about 1.30 pm, before laying the mortal remains into the cemetery. More than 1,500 persons including the relatives, friends, near and dear ones and the parishioners were present on the occasion.
