Moodbidri, Oct 24: The police station here has received a complaint from two BJP leaders from the town about life threat posed to them through electronic media. The complainants said they had received threats to their lives in the form of Facebook messages, in which they were warned of having to pay with their lives for wedging a divide between Hindus and Muslim through communalism and dirty politics.
As per the complaint, the said message was posted on October 20 through the Faebook account with the title, Mangalore Express News. The message was posted in the name of Muslim Friends, said BJP Dakshina Kannada district vice president, K P Jagadish Adhikari, and member of the district BJP executive, Sudarshan M, to whom the said message was directed.
"If you continue to play political gimmicks by creating enmity between Hindus and Muslims by spreading hatred among Hindus through communalism and inciting innocent people, our aim will be to eliminate selfish persons like you. Communal elements from the town will be our next target," the message, which also posted photoes of Adhikari and Sudarshan, said.
Sudarshan in his complaint, said that this is an effort to disrupt harmony between Hindus and Muslims that is aimed at spreading unrest in the society. He said that he does not get bogged by messages of threat, and will continue to serve religion and society as in the past.
Leaders of Hindu organizers, who have condemned this threat, have expressed resentment at the lukewarm response of the police to this incident. They recollected that the police had registered a case against Bhuvit Shetty, a Bajrang Dal activist, suo moto, relating to the tweet about Kalburgi, who was slain in the recent past.
