Accused in girl child's murder dies of assault

Hyderabad, Oct 24 (IANS): A woman who was assaulted for her kidnapping and murder of a three-and-half-year old girl died of her injuries at a hospital here on Sunday, police said.

Yadamma, 50, succumbed at Gandhi Hospital, where she was undergoing treatment since last week along with her husband Laxmaih. The couple were assaulted after the body of Lasya was found in their house in Deendayalnagar under Sanathnagar police station limits on October 16.

Police have booked a murder case against Lasya's parents and others.

Three people including Yadamma's daughter Padma, 32, have been arrested for the kidnap and murder of the child.

Yadamma and others had kidnapped Lasya, daughter of their neighbours Naveen Chary and Mayuri on October 14. They strangled her to death and kept the body in a gunny bag. According to police, the accused found it difficult to dispose of the body due to constant watch around their house.

As the foul smell started emanating from Yadamma's house two days later, Lasya's parents and other neighbours barged in and found the body. They assaulted the couple.

The investigations revealed that Yadamma and her family members hatched a plan to kidnap and murder the girl to take revenge on her parents over some dispute.

During a fight over some issue, Mayuri had publicly accused Padma of having extramarital affairs with Yadgiri, a local youth. Yadamma and her family members had felt insulted over this and were looking for an opportunity to take revenge.
