Eight killed in Thailand bus crash

Bangkok, Oct 25 (IANS): At least eight people were killed and 28 others were injured in a bus crash in Thailand's Kanchanaburi province on Sunday.

A bus carrying 40 passengers crashed into a concrete barrier at a downhill curve in Kanchanaburi's Si Sawat district and overturned on Sunday, Xinhua quoted local police as saying.

Rescuers managed to extricate from the wreckage of the bus all the injured, 19 of whom sustained serious injuries, and the bodies of those killed.

The passengers were from the central Samut Sakhon province, police said, adding they were returning from a rafting trip in Kanchanaburi when the accident happened.

Investigators believed that the driver was possibly unfamiliar with the route and lost control of the vehicle.
