Low pressure to bring rainfall in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Oct 25 (IANS): A low pressure formed over the Bay of Bengal may bring rain and thundershowers in some parts of coastal Odisha, the Met office said on Sunday.

"A low pressure area has formed over southwest Bay of Bengal off Sri Lanka coast this morning (Sunday) under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over east Sri Lanka coast and its adjoining areas," the meteorological office said here in a statement.

The associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends up to 3.6 km above mean sea level.

The system would become more marked during next 48 hours, it said.

The statement said rains and thundershowers would occur at one or two places over coastal Odisha under the influence of low pressure.

Regional director of the India Meteorology Department Sarat Sahu said some parts of coastal Odisha would experience rainfall only after October 30.

The low pressure would gradually move towards Tamil Nadu from where it would move up along the coast towards north-north-east and hit the south Odisha coast around October 31. There would be rainfall in south coastal districts, said Sahu.
