China issues new rules on resettling retired soldiers

Beijing, Oct 26 (IANS): China has issued new rules to regulate the resettling of retired soldiers.

The military performance of the soldiers will be evaluated according to rules jointly published by the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the General Staff headquarters of the Chinese army.

The rules aim to ensure that those with longer service and greater contribution enjoy priority in post-service job assignments, Xinhua reported citing an official statement released on Sunday.

The soldiers will be evaluated on their military performance, service in remote areas, professional skills, and other experience.

Those who received punishment during service or falsify their records will be demoted in the rating, according to the rules.
