Mumbai, Oct 26: The ninth annual general body meeting was held by Canara Konkani Association, Borivli a registered body having over 1200 members on October 22 at St Francis Institute of Management and Research (SFMAR) Borivali at 6.00 pm.
Veronica Noronha welcomed the gathering and Ronald Goveas said the opening prayer. Chairman Albert W D’Souza along with George D’Souza, Godfrey Quadros, Charles D’Cunha and Robert Tauro were the other office bearers invited on the dais to conduct the meeting.
Charles D’Cunha, secretary read the minutes of the previous meeting and Robert Tauro presented the annual accounts which were already sent to the members earlier.
Godfrey Quadros, vice chairman in charge of educational aid selection committee welcomed the children to the dais to receive their financial assistance from the chairman Albert W D’souza. The recipients expressed their gratitude by presenting flowers to the chairman.
The association invited Raphael D’Souza, advocate-High Court, to enlighten the gathering on making a will, probating a will and nomination. He also answered the queries raised by the audience.
The chairman informed the members that next year (2016) being the tenth anniversary, he proposed to start a new venture in medical aid to the needy patients particularly the dialysis cases through Karuna Hospital Borivli. He appealed to the members to donate or get donation to start the above scheme.
Charles D’Cunha announced that ‘Claud Nite’ the annual cultural programme will be organized on November 11 at Thackery Hall at 8.15 pm. The event has been sponsored by The Model Co-operative Bank, as their centenary celebrations. Passes are issued free of cost on the basis of 'first come first served'.
The meeting came to an end with the vote of thanks by Veronica Noronha followed by fellowship dinner.
