SC coal block bench breaks for quake

New Delhi, Oct 26 (IANS): The earthquake that rattled north India early afternoon on Monday had its effect on the Supreme Court where the coal bench hearing one of the coal block-allocation scam-related matters adjourned the hearing as soon as the tremors were felt in the court room.

The apex court bench, headed by Justice Madan B. Lokur, adjourned the hearing till 3 p.m. as soon as the shocks were felt in the court room.

This allowed the lawyers, including Senior Counsel Gopal Subramanian, Special Public Prosecutor in coal block allocation scam cases' trial R.S. Cheema and activist lawyer Prashant Bhushan, to leave the court room.
