Modi offers 'all assistance' to Sharif

New Delhi, Oct 26 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday spoke to his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif and offered "all possible assistance" following a devastating earthquake there.

"Expressed condolences on the loss of lives due to the quake. Offered all possible assistance from India," Modi tweeted.

The Indian leader said he also expressed his gratitude to Sharif for his efforts in ensuring the return to India of deaf-and-mute young woman Geeta, who had been stranded in Pakistan for over a decade.

At least 130 people were killed and hundreds injured when an earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale with its epicentre in Afghanistan jolted northern Pakistan.
