Fr Eugene Lobo appointed PRO to KRCBC

Bengaluru, Oct 26: Archbishop of Bengaluru Dr Bernard Moras, who is also the Chairman of Karnataka Region Catholic Bishops’ Council (KRCBC), has appointed appointed Jesuit priest Fr (Dr) Eugene Lobo as the Public Relations Officer of KRCBC and Fr (Dr) T Lourdusamy as the Secretary of All Karnataka United Christian Forum (AICUF) and also as Regional Secretary Inter-Religious and Ecumenism.

The appointments announced by the Bengaluru Archdiocesan Chancellor and PRO Fr A S Anthony Swamy in an official press release, come into effect immediately.

Fr Eugene Lobo, a Mangalurean priest, was born at Neerude on April 5, 1949 and studied in the St Aloysius Educational Institutions.


Rank Winner, Educationist

He has the distinction of securing the first rank with three gold medals and two prizes in BA. He secured 1st Rank with three gold medals and 2 prizes in BA. He also secured third rank in English and 8th rank in General Science in the Mysore University.

He secured State award for rank student. He did his MA in Economics from University of Bombay and secured PhD in Economics also from University of Bombay.

Fr Eugene Lobo has been an educationist from 1979-2007 serving as Professor and Principal at St Joseph’s College, Bengaluru and St Aloysius College, Mangaluru. He has served in several commissions during his tenure as principal.

He was member of the Syndicate of Bengaluru University and member of Academic Council of the University for five terms. He has been a guide for PhD students of Economics.

He also worked at Vatican Radio, Rome from 2007-2012. Later, he was Superior and Director at Fatima Retreat House, Mangaluru.

Currently, he is the Secretary, Karnataka Regional Commission for Education.


Scholar in Canon Law, Ecclesiastical Jurisprudence

The newly appointed Secretary of All Karnataka United Christian Forum (AICUF) and also as Regional Secretary Inter-Religious and Ecumenism, Fr T Lourdusamy, belongs to the Diocese of Bellary.

He did his BA in Philosophy and Theology at Sacred Heart Seminary, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He was ordained on April 24, 1987.

He did his post-graduate studies in Canon Law at St Peter’s Pontifical Institute, Malleswaram, Bengaluru and did his doctoral studies in Canon Law at Pontifical Urbaniana University, Rome, Italy, and then the post-doctoral studies in the Ecclesiastical Jurisprudence at Gregorian University, Rome, Italy.

Fr Lourdusamy had served in various capacities as the Chancellor, the Judicial Vicar and the Episcopal Vicar in the Diocese of Bellary.

At the Karnataka Regional level, he was the Regional Secretary for the KRCBC-Labour Commission from 2004-2012 and has been serving as the Regional Coordinator of KRPPIC from 2012 January onwards.

At the national level, he was a Member of the Consultative Body of CCBI-Commission for Canon Law and a staff member in the Canon Law Department at St Peter’s Pontifical Institute, Malleswaram, Bengaluru from 2014.
