Pillion rider dies after car hits motor bike at Padupanambur

Mangaluru, Oct 27: A woman pillion rider died after a motor bike and a car got involved with an accident on national highway 66 at Padupanambur near Haleangady on the night of Sunday October 25.

Shanthi Acharya (41) from Krishnapura, Suratkal, who was travelling with her husband, Satish Acharya, who was riding the motor bike, lost her life in the accident. The motor bike that was carrying the couple and their son, Sahitya, was moving towards Mulky from the direction of Haleangady, when the car which came from behind knocked the motor bike down. All the three occupants of the two-wheeler were thrown on to the road as a result, and suffered injuries of varying degrees.

Shanthi Acharya, whose nature of injuries were grave, succumbed on Monday October 26 in a hospital. The other two injured persons are recovering at a hospital here. Traffic police have registered a case.
