Mangalore, Aug 6: City-based Mani Krishnaswamy Academy’s online music class was inaugurated at a formal function here on Sunday August 5.  This is a pioneer effort in bringing live music education online. 

Dr C R Ballal president of Sangeetha Parishat-Mangalore, and Captain Ganesh Karnik, MLC and president of the academy were the chief guests on the occasion.

The classes have been designed in such a way that the teacher can teach students even from distant places as well as well as when they are traveling. Physically challenged and elderly people too can learn music sitting at home.

Online music classes will be taught to students by young music achiever Prarthana Rao. She has an undergone 11 years of training under various well-known musicians including Padmashree – Sangeetha Kalanidhi Mani Krishnaswami, Sangeetha Kala Acharya Changlapet Ranganath and Sangeetha Kalanidhi T K Govinda Rao.

    It is pioneering effort to teach music through internet. It is a harmonious blend of modern technology with ancient tradition. I wish the teacher Prarthana Rao all the very best. She is a student of music and sanskrit. What a envious combination!.

    Their family is organising weekly programmes for upcoming artists at their modest house in Surathkal. Great work.
