Mangaluru, Oct 29: A youth was hacked to death between Wednesday midnight and early Thursday at Moodushedde junction near Vamanjoor.
The deceased person has been identified as Vijeet (29) from Shivanagara.
Sources said that the murder might have taken place at around 1.30 am.
There were four police cases pending against Vijeeth including 3 cases of attempts to murder (IPC 307).
As per information, Vijeeth worked as construction supervisor. Allegedly, he had indirectly been involved with the murders of rowdy-sheeter Murugesh, and his brother-in-law Upendra. These murders had occurred on November 11, 2011.
It is gathered that serious differences had cropped up between him and some people who had been members of his gang since the last several years in the recent past. Allegedly, there had also been fight between these factions in this background.
As per reports, a gang which kept close watch on his movements since Wednesday night attacked him in the wee hours on Thursday at Moodushedde junction with lethal weapons.
Vijeeth, who was hacked with swords and sickles, suffered grave injuries and succumbed on the spot. Senior police officers including city police commissioner visited the spot and guided investigation.
Vijeeth's body has been kept in the mortuary of Wenlock Hospital here.
Kavoor police have registered a case.
