Daijiworld Media Network - Dubai (MB)
Dubai, Aug 6: With a view to spurring enthusiasts and generating more and more interest in poetry, www.konkanipoetry.com, a total website dedicated to Konkani poetry, is launching a unique and innovative poetry game from this month.
Anyone able to read Konkani can take part in this simple and easy-to-play game, and it is going to be a trend-setter in the history of Konkani websites, says the brain behind it, Konkanipoetry.com editor and Kavita Trust president Melvyn Rodrigues.

This game will be held at monthly frequency. At the beginning of each month, about 50 new Konkani words will be provided along with a set of square boxes below. The participants have to drag these words into the boxes to create meaningful poetry. That is the essence and purpose of the game. The exercise will certainly hold the participants' interest and they will find it very fascinating, says Naveen Sequeira, who has designed the game. The readers will take part without being hindered by inhibitions about going wrong here and there, he further says. The participants' intelligence and creative skills will be honed by means of this game, he adds.
Another unique feature of the game is that a given word can be used any number of times and qualification of the poetry for adjudication requires the use of a minimum of eighteen words.
The choicest of poetry received during the month will be published in the website and the best among them will fetch a prize too.
While it is easy and convenient to set such games in English language, considering the difficulties involved in setting them in Indian languages, this effort is certainly highly laudable.
Starting wth the Kavita Kullar column in Daijiworld.com, this poetry movement and campaign graduated into full scale with the launching of Kavita Trust and konkanipoetry.com and now it is steadily marching ahead.
The organizers are confident that Konkani-lovers will find this game not only interesting but also as a medium for them to be egged on to learn the fine art of poetry appreciation.
