Bantwal: Man who attacked KSRTC driver sentenced

Bantwal, Oct 30: The court of the junior magistrate (first class) here, through an order passed on Wednesday October 28, sentenced a person, who had attacked a driver of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) to 25 months of imprisonment. Besides, a fine of Rs 5,500 has also been imposed on him.

Poovappa Gowda from Kula village, who was working as driver of KSRTC bus moving to Badiyadka from Puttur, had been assaulted by Hasainar from Perla when on duty on April 8, 2012. A complaint had been registered about this incident in Vittal polie station.

After the trial, Judge of the JMFC court, Mahesh Kumar, came to the conclusion that charges levelled against the accused have been proved. Out of the above fine, Rs 2,000 has been ordered to be paid to the driver.

Public prosecutor, Shaukat Ali, had argued the case on behalf of the driver.
