MCC and Besant College Cleanliness Drive: Both the colleges will organize a cleanliness drive today. According to college principal K T Manjula the campaign will begin with a rally by 650 students and 100 staff of the college.

The said rally will be flagged off by DC Maheshwar Rao from Town Hall, Mangalore at 9.30 am.

Handicrafts Fair Organized: A ‘North East Crafts Fair’ will be organized by the North Eastern Handicrafts and Handloom Development Corporation Limited, at Woodlands Hotel premises, at Bunts Hostel road, at 11 am today.

Artisans and craftsmen from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram , Nagaland and Tripura will be participating in the fair, where there will be a live demonstration, exhibition and sale of exclusive handicrafts and handloom products from North Eastern states of India. 

The crafts on display include cane furniture, cane and bamboo baskets, cane woven items, hand printed woven textiles, hand-woven silk and cotton sarees, embroidery, wood carving, leather bags, terracotta, dry flowers, Kouna cushion/mattress and jute items, stated the release.

Star Health and Allied Insurance Co. Ltd: First anniversary of the said Insurance company will be inaugurated by the DC Maheshwar Rao at City Light Comlex, Balmatta Road, Mangalore at 11 am today.

Karantaka Tulu Sahitya Academy: Tulu classes will be inaugurated at Academy chavadi, Lalbagh, Mangalore at 4 pm by the zilla panchayat CEO A M Kunjappa and presided over by Academy president M K Seetharam Kulal. 

On this occasion folklorist Dr Vaman Nandavar will release ‘Tulu kend patherd odid Kalbule’ and ‘Karmbuda per’ books. 

General Meet: A general meet and family get together will be organized by the Dakshina Kannada District Ex-Servicemen Association which will be held at the Jugul Towers in the city on August 15. 

MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik will preside over and Ullal MLA U T Khader will be the chief guest.
