Four hacked to death in Jharkhand for 'practising witchcraft'

Ranchi, Nov 1 (IANS): Four members of a family, including two women, were hacked to death on suspicion of practising witchcraft in Jharkhand's Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Sunday, police said.

The victims have been identified as Jinkaru Mundain (75), her daughter Soru Mundain (55), and two sons Ghasia Munda (50) and Hagal Munda (40), police said.

According to police, Shyamlal Munda and his brother Ram Singh Munda entered the victims' house early on Sunday morning and hacked the four family members to death.

The incident took place at Sosokada Tola area of Seraikela-Kharsawan, around 130 km from Ranchi.

According to police, Shyamlal's one-year-old son died a few days ago. He suspected that the victims' black magic resulted in his son's death.

After killing the family members, the accused took the women's head to police station.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.

More than 1,000 women have been killed over the years in Jharkhand on suspicion of practising witchcraft.

    what a horrible and condemnable act from These People.whoever practices a witch craft or Magic ,is not proved officially and those who hacked them are not to consider this and murder others.Let Police do the Investigation .These People believe everything what ever goes wrong in their lifeand give fault to others.He had taken her head to Police?He didnt know the cause of his childs death and believe?Lord in that area things are not yet developed and People too uneducated.what is the use of having a smart City and People are still in darkness,Govt.is not taking steps to bring some light and punishment to those such heinous work?why they sent Bodys to post martum?it is a clear case.these People should be punished severly or better same way as they did to poor People.May the souls of These murdered rest in peace and heartfelt sympathys to the Family if any left.

    May be BJP influence... as this State was longest ruled by BJP and JMM\BJP coalition and never by Congress except outside support to Khoda and Soren.
    That is why Jharkhand is still a very backward State and as usual BJP blames Congress for it!!!
