Madhya Pradesh woman minister kicks minor seeking one rupee

Panna (Madhya Pradesh), Nov 1 (IANS): In a callous act, Madhya Pradesh minister Kusum Mehdele, who has already courted controversy for her insensitive remarks on farmers' suicides, kicked a boy in full public view on Sunday when he asked her for one rupee.

The incident was captured on camera and went viral across media and social networks, leading to outrage from the public and demands for her sacking.

The incident occurred at a bus stand near the district headquarters in this Madhya Pradesh district where Mehdele, who is also the local legislator, had come to participate in a cleanliness drive to mark the sprawling central Indian state's foundation day.

According to witnesses, as Mehdele was going towards her car at the completion of the programme, the 10-year-old boy approached her and begged for one rupee, and even lowered his head towards her feet. An enraged minister lashed with her foot, hitting him on the head. The incident created a sensation but no one intervened, till some officials came and dragged the boy away.

The opposition Congress demanded Mehdele, who holds the horticulture and food processing and the animal husbandry portfolios, be sacked. State party spokesman K.K. Mishra said she had no right to remain in her position for "even one minute more".

A defensive Bharatiya Janata Party declined to comment at this juncture. Any comment can only be made after seeing the video, said state party media head Hitesh Bajpayee.

Mehdele had recently sparked controversy, when at a function in Damoh district, she said that no farmer commits suicide at the death of a young son, then how could they do so at the failure of their crops.

Bhandu maam, this does not seem to to be an issue of man or woman but is an issue about the shameful & despicable act committed by a person holding a public office and a responsible position. So I believe that is where the condemnation comments need to be directed.

It is the culture preached and practiced by RSS and now accommodated by BJP. The power of 282 has gone to their head, and they won't mind kicking boys, they won't mind deaths of farmers, they won't mind people getting killed for what they eat, what they wear and whom they talk.

Gandhi Topi the colour is white, where as the RSS topi - the colour is black. For centuries black was associated with darkness and evil.

Some lessons from UAE, an Arab Nation, that democratic India can take. There was a photo, taken from Dubai's famous Abra creak shows some people from India getting ready to immerse the Idol of Ganesh into the sea. Remember, it is a country where even throwing a plastic cup in water bodies are treated punishable offence and toughly dealt with. Still, the rulers of Dubai permit this ritual, just because it is a religious affair.

Secondly, Camel is a national animal in Arab countries. if your vehicle hits a camel, you will have to pay the fine as if you have hit a human being. But if you want to eat a camel, you can do so according to their slaughtering norms.
Thirdly, if you go to malls, you will find a notice board with a warning 'not for Muslims'. it is pork sold inside in these cabins, mostly for other nationals who want to use it.
And finally, UAE is a country that have banned liquor according to Islamic principles. But all non Muslims can carry some restricted number of bottles if they want. This is the essence of tolerance. Democratic India has to take it from UAE, I believe. The cultural influences that our people speak about, sounds hollow comparing to this small nation with more than 180 or so nationalities living peacefully in it.
