Mangalore, Aug 8: A move to convert the historical Balbrooie Guest House in Bangalore, into a club for members of the legislature has been vociferously opposed by the Dr B R Ambedkar Prathishtana (BRAP) in Bangalore.

State president of the B R Ambedkar Pratishtana Shivappa Renkeda Guttu informed presspersons here on Tuesday, August 7 that the guest house Balbrooie had a history of its own. Two of the former chief ministers Devaraj Urs and H.D. Deve Gowda had utilized this guest house as residence.  Hence converting it into club would be opposed by Dr B R Ambedkar Foundation.  "It will only ruin our cultural heritage and leave us empty one day," he said.
