Dubai: Oxford Marine win MVCA cricket tournament

Dubai, Nov 2: 'Udentichin Neketram' Moodbidri Varado Catholic Association (MVCA) organized an exhilarating 'MVCA Trophy 2015', an open-to-all cricket tournament October 23 and 30 at Zabeel cricket grounds, Dubai.

'Oxford Marine' cricketers won the MVCA Trophy defeating an equally strong opponent 'Shanan Stars' in the final. A total of 22 teams participated in the tournament which was played over two weekends. Players of different nationalities participated in this prestigious event.

Earlier in the semi-finals, Shanan Stars defeated Pacific Ventures and Oxford Marine won against Payyanur Rockers to enter the finals. In the finals Oxford Marine defeated Shanan Stars by 8 wickets to lift the coveted MVCA Trophy 2015. Fahim from Oxford Marine was declared man of the match while his teammate Mubashir was awarded man of the series title for his all round performance.

MVCA president Cyprian Fernandes, secretary Elvisha along with MVCA committee member honoured the winners with trophy and cash prize.

President of MVCA specially thanked Broadway Event Management for its support in hosting the event successfully. Josve D'Souza compered the valedictory ceremony.
