Ranchi, Aug 9: Enraged that he did not get breakfast on time, a man stabbed his wife to death in East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand.

Police said Jetu Bera, 55, a resident Gandhania village, 145 km from here, killed Durga, 50, Wednesday after an altercation over the delay in serving him a meal.

Jetu was in a hurry to leave for work and asked his wife to prepare breakfast quickly. After an hour, he pulled up his wife for taking time in preparing the meal.

Durga tried to reason with him. But an enraged Jetu grabbed a kitchen knife and plunged it into her. Neighbours rushed a profusely bleeding Durga to hospital where she was declared dead. Jetu has been arrested.

In another incident, depression drove a woman to commit suicide by jumping into a well along with her five-year-old son in Ranchi Wednesday.

Rekha Devi, a resident Ratu Block, was reportedly unhappy because her husband never took her to Mumbai, where he worked, during the 12 years of their marriage.
