Maldives declares state of emergency


Colombo, Nov 4 (IANS): Maldives President Abdulla Yameen on Wednesday declared a state of emergency in the Indian Ocean atoll nation.

"(The) Maldives declares state of emergency for a period of 30 days starting 12 p.m. (0700 GMT) on Wednesday," presidential spokesman Muaz Ali tweeted, reports Xinhua news agency.
