Mangaluru, Nov 4: With the police stepping up their search of the district jail premises in the wake of the murders of two inmates two days ago, all kinds of tools, knives and mobile phones are cropping up from the prison.
On Wednesday November 4, the police investigative team and jail officials conducted a joint search operation of the prison rooms and cells and found six knives, 16 mobile phones, seven sim cards, seven memory cards, mobile batteries, mobile chargers, electric wire, cutting plier, lighters, electric heaters, chilli powder and wires of an iron box.
The above items were seized and a case was registered in Barke police station for further investigation.
In a gang war inside the jail on November 2, two inmates - alleged Chhota Shakeel aide Madoor Isubu and his associate Ganesh Shetty were murdered. A case has been registered against five persons and police have termed the murder as pre-planned.
Sources said that out of the 6 knives found in the search operation, none of them were used in the crime, and hence the search for the murder weapon is on.
