Suspicious device found in Male


Male, Nov 5 (IANS): Maldivian security forces on Thursday found a suspicious device, likely to be a bomb, in the western part of capital Male, media reports said.

The device was discovered at the intersection between the New Harbour and Ameenee Magu, Xinhua news agency reported. Security has been tightened in the area.

Police evacuated people from the surrounding areas.

The discovery comes two days after security forces discovered an explosive device near the presidential palace.

The Maldives declared a state of Emergency on Wednesday.
